My teens attend one of the more “advanced” inner city schools, Maynard Jackson High School. SOAR has opened doors for my teens that I would not have been able to present, and their school has not presented. They have the opportunity to work hands on with a college research team, and eventually develop their own individual research. Many high school teachers didn't inform or push the kids to pursue the science fairs. However, Alexa’s organization, SOAR, brought this opportunity to my family thru their school...SOAR provides an excellent opportunity, in which it exposes kids to outside and higher learning, which challenges them to be better students. The opportunity for them to participate with professors and research subjects of their interest is stimulating, and amazing. They gain college experience long before they are college students themselves. They have the ability to be on a college campus, and soak up the college surroundings. It is much better than any college tour they could ever experience. A level of maturity is afforded to students who participate through SOAR.
